The Edmonton School of Ballet offers a variety of classes for adult dancers. These include Jazz, Tap, Modern and Ballet. Ballet is divided by Beginner, Experienced, Intermediate 1 & 2, and Advanced levels. Adult classes run weekly from mid-September through June. Adults in these classes learn technique, steps, strengthening, and stretching. Dancers in the adult contemporary classes (Jazz, Tap, and Modern) have the exciting goal of performing in our Contemporary Show in May. Dancers in our Adult Ballet classes (except for the Beginner Ballet class which does not perform) must take an additional choreography class if they wish to perform in our annual Spring Show in March.
The new schedule for September is typically available at the end of May or beginning of June each season. Adults should be aware that enrolment in classes is from September to June. The Edmonton School of Ballet does not allow drop-ins. Late registrations may be allowed if space permits. There is no discount on fees for registering late.
There are many reasons why people choose to take adult dance classes at the Edmonton School of Ballet. Many adults take up dance to learn more about what their own children are studying and enjoying. Others are interested in re-visiting a dream of their youth. Still others are looking for a new form of fitness that challenges not just their body, but their intellect as well. We also see dancers who danced in their teens and are hoping to continue to take classes while working or studying and want to be in a class with other adults instead of younger children.
**Note – Adult students typically do not perform in the Summer Dance Intensive Revue.
Please refer to the Edmonton School of Ballet schedule for class days and times.
